Well the weather is starting to finally cooperate here in south Alabama after a ton of rain. Some birds are actually starting to act right and gobble back at some calls. I managed to break the ice for this year's season earlier today and my good buddy Greg was along for the ride. The birds were right around the corner from us and came in pretty quick. With a little luck and a load of Hevi-Shot this ole timber rooster has sounded his last gobble! Had a ton of fun and am looking forward to getting back out there in the morning. I hope everyone is having a great turkey season so far. Head on over to and share your turkey hunting photos and reports with us!

Gobbler Down!
Friday, 21 March 2014 21:19

Congratulations to my good friend Greg Windham who managed to take this south Alabama gobbler this morning while hunting with us. We got some great footage of this bird that will air this fall on The Sportsman Channel. Right now some birds are gobbling good on the roost but many gobblers still have hens with them right now. Other reports from our area indicate the same. But there's always a lonely gobbler just wating to be called in somehwere out there.

It's the final countdown!

Well, here in Alabama we are less than 48hrs away from our 2014 Turkey Season and I'm so excited I can hardly sleep y'all! This year should be awesome and might even be our best year yet. This warmer weather already has the birds gobbling and moving around pretty good. We took our friends Jacob and Hunter on youth hunts last weekend. While we couldn't quite get into the right place at the right time, we still managed to have some fun and the birds were definitely around. I'm really looking forward to hunting all my regular spots with the guys and even a few new locations along the way. It should be awesome y'all! The turkey footage we film this season will air this Fall on The Sportsman Channel.

Shooting in the ASA Tuscaloosa Pro/Am
Friday, 28 February 2014 22:44

Well, this weekend I'm excited to be competing in the ASA's Tuscaloosa Pro-Am event being held in Tuscaloosa, AL. This year I'm really cranking up my competitiveness for the tourney season and I've been practicing hard. Maybe some of the hard work will pay off. Things at home are settling down some after the arrival of our new son and I'm really looking forward to getting back home to spend time with my family. On the business side of things, I'm proud to announce my new partnership for 2014 with T.R.U. Ball Releases and AXCEL Archery Sights. They are a great company with fantastic, high quality products. Is it Turkey Season Yet?
Wednesday, 19 February 2014 15:17

Well, it's not even the end of February yet and I'm already getting pretty excited about the upcoming turkey season. I've got a feeling this is going to be an awesome turkey season. We've already been seeing some birds around. I've also been busy with business and family obligations lately but I've managed to get some target practice in at the archery range and around the barn. I'm really looking forward to getting back out on the tournament trail soon. Right now I'm just holding down the fort at home as we wait on the arrival of our second child any day now! Check back in here and on the show's Facebook page for another update soon. Thanks y'all!

Country Music and Ice Storms?
Wednesday, 29 January 2014 16:12

Had a great time hunting the other day with my buddy Chris Janson who was able to take a break from his busy country music schedule to come down and hunt in my neck of the woods. Chris and I met through our mutual friend Brent Harrison of Southern Point Co. It was a perfect morning so I put Chris into one of my secret spots hoping it would produce for him. As you can tell from the photo, it sure did produce one! Chris was able to bag this nice 130 inch Alabama stud. A very nice buck for this part of the country. The best part is that we caught it all on film! So y’all check out the footage which will air this fall on Sportsman Channel.

I’ve been hunting around the house most mornings and afternoons. The rut is just about in full swing and the deer are moving good. I’m still looking to bag a monster before our Southeast Alabama season ends in a few days. It’s been tough at times but I love every minute of it. Right now we have light snow and moderate ice from a winter storm that blew in last night. I hope everyone stays safe and warm, in the meantime I’ll be back in the woods again this afternoon. Y'all check in with me on Facebook and let me know how your season is going!
